Chatcuterie Boards ~ The Newest Rave!

July 4, 2021

July 4th is a great way to share the love of our nation and for some good food with family and friends! The chatcuterie boards are a perfect way to throw all of your favorite pick foods on a board and watch the love and conversations begin.

What will you need?

Of course, a board that is large enough for all those fun snacks to display, any fruit, cheeses, cookies, cheese and more. Since this is the 4th of July, let’s pick anything and everything red, white and blue.

Need to see a visional to inspire your creation?

Pinterest has some amazing ideas but I found one from the Hungry Couple that I was inspired by all of the textures and colors. Enjoy!

May is Mental Health Awareness.

May 4, 2021
Mental Health

No one really talks about mental health because its looked down upon by others or society to have a tough day that lingers a little longer than just a one day pity party, having depression, anxiety or a medical diagnosis.

Mind Trash

Mind trash or negative thoughts can spiral out of control. Those thoughts start to take toll on our mind, body and spirit. Our brain starts to believe every single thought to the point it pains our body by not eating, sleeping through the night, triggers rage and uncontrollable crying.

Anxiety

Anxiety can be easy to regulate and not so much for others. Anything from argument to a partner to going to a party can create an anxiety moment which can lead to depression and feeling out of control.

Medical Diagnosis

There are many medical diagnosis such as bipolar disorder, seasonal bipolar disorder, depressive and anxiety disorders that can trigger many other symptoms and take a toll on your mental health.

What can you do?

  1. Reach out to a medical professional to get a well-check. If you haven’t had a medical check up, its time to do it. There may be some physical things going on that might be compounding your feelings and emotions.
  2. Speak with a therapist. They will help you begin to understand how the feelings begin, understand our vulnerabilities, help us recognize how this emotion or behavior is hurtful and devise a plan or give you tools to manage and overcome.

Last but not least…

Prescribe yourself a little Self Care script! Self care can be many things like physical activity (exercise), social (visit friends), and spiritual (nurture your spirit or if religious, go to church service).

Self-care is not self-indulgence, it is self preservation.

Opinions.. We all have one but do I?

April 4, 2021

Oh Boy…

Nowadays, the topics of discussion are either politics, employment, Covid 19, the shots or vaccines, economy, and more. The several news outlets are constantly reminding us of what most people are passionate about or trying to avoid talking about.

See, I do have opinions. Mostly likely, I will keep them to myself. I will tell you a few things.

I believe…

  1. Stepping up and protecting those that are hurting,
  2. Feeding the hungry,
  3. Being kind,
  4. Being compassionate,
  5. If you can say something nice, don’t say anything at all.,
  6. And most importantly, If someone tells you something in confidence, don’t repeat it. It Ain’t your Story to tell!

“I’ve had to go against all kinds of people through the years just to be myself. I think everybody should be allowed to be who they are and to love who they love.” ~ Dolly Parton~

Spring is Here!

March 4, 2021
Spring Cleaning

SPRING is here! We love be able to enjoy the warmer weather, open the windows to smell the fresh air and just exhale. Until, we realize the dust bunnies are showing and the clutter is overwhelming our minds.  I have a few tips and tricks that I use when preparing for that Spring cleaning.

Have a Plan!

I usually sit down and write out my list of what I am going to accomplish that day. Since I have a hobbit house, I pick either upstairs or downstairs first.  Shoot, I only have two rooms downstairs so that’s my go to most of the time.

Start Room by Room

Again, I have a hobbit house so it doesn’t take long. I begin with my kitchen, wipe counters, swifer, sweep, vacuum, mop floors, baseboards and throw out any old glasses, papers, magazines and more.

Music!

Get that favorite play list, blast it to all your favorite speakers and Sing! Make cleaning fun.

Create a steady cleaning schedule.

When you create a steady cleaning schedule, your Spring cleaning will go by a lot faster. You can even incorporate your family in the fun. There’s a planner that helps me with my daily cleaning. It’s call Passionate Penny Pincher Home Planner. It does cost around $40 but it is so worth it. I will put the link down below.

What's the Best Part of February?

I love this month because my son was born in February. It’s hard to believe that he turned 30 this year. Plus, its the love month ta boot! Valentine’s day is the way to spread the love. Cards, Flowers, chocolate are definitely the go to items but just seeing him and hanging out is the best present I could ask for when celebrating this little holiday.

What special things do you do for your loved ones for Valentine’s Day! Let me know in the comments below!

The Perfect Planner

January 5, 2021

Yeah! It’s a New Year and new goals. Of course, I choose small ones so I can be successful. The one thing that remains in my toolbox is my planner. It helps me create a wonderful routine that incorporates household checklist, budgets and more.

Do you want to know what it is?

It’s the 2021 Home Planner by Passionate Penny Pincher. I have always loved looking for deals, ideas on how to stay organized and motivated while being a Stay-at-Home Chihuahua Mom. The best part of this planner is the daily cleaning reminders and note areas to keep you on top of your home and ready for any spontaneous visit from family and friends.

Here’s the link to Passionate Penny Pincher’s site.  The new book is promoted and available in midweek of September of that year to prepare you for the next year. I don’t get any kickbacks for promoting this planner. If I do, I will let you know. Enjoy.

2020 – What a year, huh?

December 31, 2020

What a year, huh?

Not in my wildest dreams did I think that 2020 would be this eye opening year. Trust me, I had tons of goals to accomplish. I giggled at all the 20/20 vision quotes and memes floating around. Then “it” all started.

From earthquakes and fires to political storms to horrific losses of life during a pandemic, there were signs of courage, hope and kindness. First responders were giving it their all to saving lives without a day off and not seeing their families for months. Restaurants were pivoting to keep themselves and employees afloat all while accumulating more debt to the meet city and state health requirements. Individuals creating new business or non-profits to help other business stay open like ordering food to feed the first responders and other essential workers.

Thank you to all those “helpers” of all ages that rose to the occasion to provide comfort, care and kindness. I wish you nothing but love, light and healing for all your losses, but wish you much health and prosperity in the 2021 year.

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”” ~ Fred Rogers

Picture of the Day #365

December 31, 2019

December 31, 2019
365/365

What a crazy, yet wonderful year. I wouldn’t have imagined some of the things that I accomplished but also experienced.

I saved a budgie parakeet and have learned love it but learning how to bond and train it. Thanks to my bird friends for helping me. I am grateful.

I went to NYC to see a concert with my amazing, full of life, best friend Marjorie. This same best friend came to my rescue on Sept 25th at a moments notice to take care of pets that I was watching and my own because I was having a TIA Stroke and needed to get to the ER with my hubby. I was grateful for all that helped during that medical hiccup. From food to texts to getting my hair done and more, Thank you!

Lastly, I loved being Disney Characters and even better, got to make so many smile. Thanks to everyone that shared it with me and allowing me to do it. It truly warms my heart.

I hope everyone has a wonderful 2020.
